The festival of living art6/9/2023 With a blend of local and regional artists, visitors can expect to find both modern forms of art, as well as local art created in the traditional Amana way. Can you imagine Over 36,000 artists from across the globe performed traditional and modern musical and dance performances that best represented each country celebrating. Held on a large vacant piece of land, a 7-acre stage was built. The World Culture Festival is a global event series, organized by the Art of Living Foundation, that aims to build a more compassionate and harmonious society by bringing the people of the world together in celebration. Organized and sponsored by the Amana Arts Guild, the artisans that display at the Festival of the Arts sell only handmade items, and are encouraged to demonstrate their art for festival-goers. With 3.75 million attendees from 110 countries, we celebrated 35 years of Art of Living’s service to the world. The festival continues to grow, and will celebrate its 45th year on August 13, 2022, 10AM – 5PM. The picturesque Market B arn complex is filled with all types of artisans where animals once stood, with several rows of tents on the grassy area next to the rustic barn structures that house additional artist demonstrating and displaying their works of art. So with that in mind obviously I went back to revisit the 7th episode of season 4 titled The Festival of Living Art, an event that honestly kinda creeps me out. Set beneath a historic Amana barn complex, the juried Amana Festival of the Arts showcases handmade works of art with 30+ vendors, demonstrations, food trucks, children’s activities, and more. The event is known for its tableaux vivants or 'living pictures' in which classical and contemporary works of art are recreated by real people who are made to look nearly identical to the originals through the clever application of costumes, makeup, headdresses, lighting, props, and backdrops. I just finished season 4 and instead of going onto season 5, I wanted to rewatch some of the greatest hits. The Festival of the Arts is celebrating 45 years!
